Nisip is part of the Language of Sand collection, where each artwork is named after the word “sand” in a different language. Nisip means sand in Romanian.
Natural sand texture, earthy terracotta, deep brown and soft beige form a simple geometric composition. The warm mineral tones echo the red clay cliffs.
The sand is left deliberately raw and uneven. Its changing texture becomes part of the composition, sometimes subtle, sometimes more pronounced.
The result is quiet but tactile, shaped by the colours and materials of the Baltic landscape.

Pasir is part of the Language of Sand collection, where each artwork is named after the word “sand” in a different language. Pasir means sand in Indonesian.
The painting is created with natural sand personally collected from beaches along the Latvian coast. Different textures of sand are brought together with earthy browns, soft beige, muted whites and a small terracotta accent.
Simple geometric forms meet the raw, imperfect texture of the material. Some areas are smooth, others remain rough and tactile, allowing the sand to keep something of its original character.
There is a quiet sense of balance in Pasir. A connection between structure and imperfection, stillness and something more instinctive.

All the pebbles and sea glass used in this jewelry are personally found by me, artist Dana Mandrika, during walks along the Baltic Sea coast in Kurzeme, Latvia. Each stone is carefully selected for its unique texture, shape, and color, ensuring that every piece of jewelry carries a part of the serene seaside beauty that inspires my work.
