All the pebbles used in this jewelry are personally found by me, artist Dana Mandrika, during walks along the Baltic Sea coast in Kurzeme, Latvia. Each stone is carefully selected for its unique texture, shape, and color, ensuring that every piece of jewelry carries a part of the serene seaside beauty that inspires my work.
The Latvian Baltic Sea coastline is a place of tranquil beauty, stretching over 500 kilometers of sandy beaches, peaceful pine forests, and serene seaside villages.
It’s a coastline where the rhythm of gentle waves and the soft rustle of winds through dunes create an atmosphere of calm and reflection. One of its treasures is Jūrkalne, known for its scenic cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the sea meeting the sky.
The dark gray and black pebbles used in this jewelry are natural creations of this region, shaped over thousands of years by the Baltic Sea. Over time, waves and tides have polished their surfaces to reveal their smooth texture and unique patterns. Each stone is a reminder of the slow and patient forces of nature that shaped it.
